Dear Sian,

Thank you for your email of 17 May to the First Minister regarding the renaming of the Severn Bridge. I have been asked to reply.

The Second Severn Crossing is a UK Government asset. The Welsh Government has made repeated calls in the past to transfer ownership to the Welsh Government. However, these calls have historically been resisted.

The naming of the bridge is therefore a matter for the UK Government. I note you have already copied your email to the Secretary of State for Wales.
